[UPDATE] Login issues strike PSN in Europe, Sony is "currently investigating the cause"

UPDATE: Sony has confirmed that all EU functionality has been restored, and we have no reported problems from North American users. Looks like it’s situation normal for the PlayStation Network!

Original Story: Last week, we reported about unplanned downtime that struck the PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store for a brief time. In the aftermath of these issues, users were asked to reset their passwords. Now, it seems that PSN is experiencing trouble once more.

Earlier today, users (including some of our own editors) in North America had a rough time logging onto PSN. According to Sony, the issues have now spread to Europe. An admin of the EU PlayStation Community had the following to say:

"At the moment PlayStation®Network is currently experiencing issues and some users may encounter problems with network services and the store. (An error code e.g. 80023102 may appear when trying to sign in) Engineers are currently investigating the cause of these problems, and I will update here when more information is available."

For the moment, it seems that Sony’s official declaration applies only to EU gamers, but we’ll let you know the moment trouble is confirmed for North America as well.
